131-9A APU Ignition Exciter Upgrade

Overview
Introduced in 2022, Honeywell’s ignition exciter upgrade solution eliminates the use of radioactive material in the spark gap component. It delivers superior reliability with solid-state switching technology, a new external case design and sealing mechanisms, and a new comparator integrated circuit (IC) design.The new exciter uses solid-state switching technology, which provides more precise control over the discharge voltage and spark rate and eliminates radioactive gas in the spark gap for compliance with EURATOM regulation 96-29. It also includes an upgraded electronic board design and external case improvements. Its reliability and performance were verified on the APU in the altitude tank. The upgrade is available through Honeywell and authorized channel partners.
