LASEREF Marine Product Family

Overview
Honeywell's navigation portfolio for aerospace and marine applications includes LASEREF and TALIN subsystems as well as subcomponents such as ring laser gyros, accelerometers, and navigation-grade inertial measurement units. The LASEREF family is the de facto industry standard providing the lowest cost-of-ownership with exceptionally long life.Based on our highly reliable ring laser gyroscopes and quartz accelerometers with more than 900 million hours of flawless performance, the LASEREF Marine family represents a new standard in the maritime industry. It is a platform with high position accuracy, integrity, continuity and availability—without International. The LASEREF Marine system is available in three performance versions:
  • LASEREF Marine Inertial Navigation System (INS) – The HG2170 LASEREF inertial navigation system is the world's most reliable marine INS with three to four times longer lifetime than competing systems and proven high-accuracy positioning in global positioning system (GPS)-denied environments. The system can incorporate multiple sensor inputs including a built-in stabilized gyrocompass to provide accurate positioning information even when an unobstructed GPS signal is not available. Based on the highly successful commercial aviation LASEREF product family, with over 300 million operating hours and 60,000 deliveries, this system provides long range navigation using Honeywell’s high-accuracy ring laser gyros and quartz accelerometers.
  • LASEREF Marine Attitude & Heading Reference Unit (AHRS) – The HG2171 AHRS is a self-contained reference system that provides high-accuracy heading, pitch, roll, heave, and rate-of-turn data
  • LASEREF Marine Stabilized Gyrocompass (SG) – The HG2172 stabilized gyrocompass provides accurate heading, pitch, and roll data with higher reliability and a lower total cost of ownership than a mechanical gyro
These systems have been designed to support a wide variety of maritime mission scenarios while dramatically reducing installation time, weight, size, power and operating costs.
