Datalink Aeronautical Operational Control Flight Tracker
Overview
Datalink Aeronautical Operational Control (AOC) Flight Tracker improves flight safety by monitoring an aircraft’s actual route and comparing it to the planned route. The Flight Tracker maintains a record of the aircraft position and provides automatic alerts for abnorml aircraft movement. Datalink is a low-cost database solution that satisfies normal-mode and abnormal-mode position reporting recommendations from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and supports current and anticipated aircraft tracking requirements, including European Union Commission Regulation 2015/2338. All that is required is an easy update to the AOC database—no certification, additional hardware, or additional software is needed.
Datalink AOC Flight Tracker detects irregular aircraft movement by using readily-available sensor information including altitude, airspeed, vertical speed, fuel on board, heading variation, engine status, flight phase, and other aircraft indicators. The Datalink AOC database contains conditional logic to detect when data indicators indicate irregular aircraft movement by exceeding predefined thresholds, then automatically downlinks an abnormal position report every 1 minute using the proven Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System (ACARS) network. The database thresholds and position reporting interval are easily programmable within the custom AOC database or via an ACARS uplink.
