Quantum radios are the most technologically advanced group of communication and navigation radios on the market. They also provide incremental growth to meet the changing performance requirements as the industry transitions towards "free flight."

Quantum radios are the most technologically advanced group of communication and navigation radios on the market. They also provide incremental growth to meet the changing performance requirements as the industry transitions towards "free flight".

Our highly reliable navigation radios, sensors, receivers and communication equipment integrate with the automatic flight control systems, instrument systems and enhanced ground proximity warning system (EGPWS) during approaches and landings sequences to increase cockpit efficiency and reduce maintenance and operational costs.

Key features common to all Quantum radios include microprocessor/digital signal processor technology, fault memory, liquid crystal display (LCD), personal computer memory card interface association (PCMCIA), RS232 PC port and a built-in test equipment interface to an onboard maintenance system. In addition, the radios are compliant with Radio Technical Commission for Aeronautics (RTCA) DO-178B software requirements and DO-160C environmental requirements, including high-intensity radiated field (HIRF) and lightning.

Highlights include:

  • Reduced parts count for superior reliability
  • Front-mounted LCD unit identification, maintenance information, and software configuration status; improves line troubleshooting and helps reduce unnecessary removals
  • Software loading capability from the front of the unit via a PCMCIA for easy upgrade, insuring that Quantum radios will not become obsolete
  • More than 80 percent of hardware and software is common across the Quantum line of radios, reducing spares holding and overall cost of ownership
