Air Traffic Services Unit (ATSU) Airline Operational Communication

Air Traffic Services Unit (ATSU) Airline Operational Communication

Streamline data across your fleet with this state of the art software.

The Air Traffic Services Unit is an avionics computer built by Airbus for installation in Airbus aircraft (not including A300/310 aircraft).

The unit performs the functions generally found in communication management units installed on other aircraft types. The airline's datalink functions are performed by what is called the airline operational communication software.

Although the Air Traffic Services Unit is an SFE avionics computer, the software for is buyer furnished equipment and is provided directly to airlines by Honeywell.

This software is a derivation of the software used in Honeywell's Mark II communications management unit. This allows airlines to have the same datalink functions and operations across their non-Airbus aircraft (Mark II communications management unit), and Airbus aircraft air traffic services unit. In addition, the ground based PC tools for the Mark II communications management unit can also be used for the air traffic services unit. These tools being the ART reconfiguration tool and the Airsim PC-based datalink simulation tool.

The Air Traffic Services Unit airline operational communication contains extensive functionality as well as a high degree of flexibility for modification to airline specific requirements using the ground based reconfiguration tool. Honeywell has made significant modifications to the Air Traffic Services Unit from its initial delivery in the late 1990s, with a new enhanced version now being offered to airline customers.

Key Benefits:

  • 1,200+ internal parameters used for reconfiguration, displays, downlinks, reports, etc.
  • Logical processing associated with multi-function control display unit line select key actions
  • New active advisories feature
  • 120+ automatic trigger algorithms which can be used for a number of different purposes including sending downlinks automatically
  • Message encryption / decryption
  • Numerous enhancements in processing and capability
