HTS7500 Turboshaft Engine
HTS7500 Turboshaft Engine
Honeywell continues its legacy of leadership in high-performance turboshaft engines with the HTS7500, chosen to power the Lockheed Martin Sikorsky-Boeing DEFIANT X® helicopter.
The next-generation Lockheed Martin Sikorsky-Boeing DEFIANT X® helicopter will fly with an advanced turboshaft engine every bit as powerful, rugged and reliable as the aircraft itself. Our HTS7500 is the latest in a long line of Honeywell engines like the legendary T55, which has been powering CH-47 Chinook and MH-47 helicopters for the better part of seven decades.
We’re proud of our legacy and prouder still of the HTS7500, which takes engine performance and efficiency to a whole new level. The new engine is 42% more powerful than the newest version of the T55 and offers the lowest total weight compared to other engines in its horsepower class. All that means the HTS7500 can fly farther, faster with a higher power-to-weight ratio than any comparable engine, making it the perfect choice for DEFIANT X.
As the Lockheed Martin Sikorsky-Boeing entry in the U.S. Army’s Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA) competition, DEFIANT X is planned to be the fastest, most maneuverable assault helicopter ever built. The FLRAA program enable the Army to develop a new helicopter to replace its aging fleet of UH-60 Black Hawks by 2030.
