Honeywell And Quicklogic Collaborate On Groundbreaking Aerospace FPGA Technology
We're excited to announce a strategic collaboration between Honeywell Aerospace Technologies and QuickLogic Corporation that's set to change the game in aerospace technology. Under a contract that could total approximately $15 million over four years, we're developing a Strategic Radiation Hardened (SRH) Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) technology tailored for the needs of the Department of Defense (DoD) and its strategic space systems.
A Leap Forward in Space Technology
This new FPGA technology, backed by a robust Other Transactions Authority (OTA) agreement with the Army Contracting Command – Rock Island, leverages Honeywell Aerospace's advanced microelectronic fabrication process. Our manufacturing facility in Plymouth, MN—a US-owned site—is the birthplace of this pioneering technology.
Expanding on a Vision
This 2023 expansion of QuickLogic’s original contract awarded in August 2022, will see QuickLogic, a leader in field programmable logic for the Defense Industrial Base (DIB), continue to lead the charge as prime contractor from their headquarters in San Jose, CA. Honeywell Aerospace will provide a 90nm radiation hardened ASIC library and services, making this collaboration a powerhouse of innovation and specialized skill.
A Partnership of Industry Leaders
Brian Faith, President, and CEO of QuickLogic shared his pride in QuickLogic's selection by the US Government for this vital expansion. He notes, "The addition of Honeywell to our team strengthens our efforts to deliver exceptional and mission-critical technology to the US Government."
Honeywell Aerospace Technologies is equally enthusiastic about the collaboration. “This SRH FPGA will be the first of its kind and offer capability to enable space and strategic systems to operate in the harshest of environments”. We are proud to partner with QuickLogic, who has established itself as a pioneer in programmable logic and a proponent of open-source technology. This initiative is not just a milestone but also a steppingstone stepping stone towards a future where the vast array of DIB end users will benefit from our combined technological advancements, highlighting the potential for long-term production applications.
The Future Is Bright
The successful execution of the first phase could lead to a full realization of the contract's value, fostering a new era of innovation in aerospace technology.
