Modernize air to ground information exchanges with PM-CPDLC

Honeywell continues to lead the way in Air Traffic Management (ATM) technologies, and is the only company globally that has been selected to contribute to both the SESAR and NextGen programs. Honeywell’s Protected Mode - Controller Pilot Data Link Communication (PM-CPDLC) solutions are available through Supplemental Type Certificate (STC), Type Certificate (TC), and platform centric upgrades for all major aircraft platforms including Boeing, Airbus, and Embraer.

Honeywell’s comprehensive portfolio of Data Link solutions include:

  • Mark II+ Communication Management Unit (CMU): Mark II+ CMU enables data and messaging transfers between airborne and ground based systems by hosting communications protocols that allow for messages to be routed over various radio channels. It provides the most comprehensive and flexible Airline Operational Communication (AOC) functionality, meeting all current and future proposed datalink recording requirements and supporting datalink routing across multiple transmission mediums (VHF, HF and SATCOM). CMU Mark II+ is available in both ARINC 724B and ARINC 758 configurations.
  • VHF Data Link (VDL) Mode 2 Radios: The latest upgrade to the VHF data link communications has been the addition of Mode 2 data, or VDL Mode 2 capability. VDL Mode 2 allows transitioning from an infrastructure that relies on character-oriented ACARS protocols for end-to-end delivery of messages to one that uses bit-oriented Aeronautical Telecommunications Network (ATN) protocols using the same VHF ground and aircraft radios. Given the older age of the non-VDL Mode 2 RTA-44D’s, Honeywell will offer a specially priced RTA-50D VDR, that will include a 5-year warranty and has been white-list approved for all Airbus and Boeing aircraft for where it is installed.
  • Cockpit voice recorder: Honeywell’s lightweight cockpit voice recorders (CVR) utilize a modular Crash-Survivable Memory Unit (CSMU) to protect the solid-state voice recording memory. In a crash, the CSMU retains the most recent two hours of audio, digital, and timing information that enables post-incident analysis by regulators and safety investigators. Honeywell offers several lightweight cockpit voice recorder options including the lightweight combined (429 INPUT) CVR, the lightweight combined (717 INPUT) CVR, and the lightweight flight data recorder (FDR).
  • Airplane Information Management System (AIMS) for Boeing 777: AIMS is an integrated modular avionics system providing the Boeing 777 full cockpit integration – hosting technology including the primary flight-deck display system, the aircraft diagnostics, and maintenance systems. AIMS delivers unparalleled reliability by making sure that arrivals are on-time. On average, this integrated cockpit stays on-wing 15 years before needing to be removed for maintenance.

Mandate compliance with Honeywell
