High-Flying Honors for Honeywell Urban Air Mobility

High-Flying Honors for Honeywell Urban Air Mobility

  • Honeywell Tech Wins Recognition from Newsweek, Autonomous Vehicle Technology Magazine

Honeywell’s urban air mobility technology is making headlines and winning awards, with Newsweek and Autonomous Vehicle Technology Magazine separately honoring the company for shaping the future of flight.

Newsweek named Honeywell a Smart City Partner in its first Momentum Awards, citing its work in automation and progress toward reinventing the transportation industry.

Honeywell has become a leading provider of technologies used in urban air mobility vehicles – a new breed of electric or hybrid-electric aircraft that can take off and land vertically. More than 150 companies around the world are developing UAM aircraft designs.

Honeywell also provides guidance components for driverless cars, trucks and ships – as well as systems for managing transportation infrastructure, like airports, vertiports and power supply stations.

“These are the partners taking action, whose initiated projects are enacting real change,” Newsweek said in its announcement of the Smart City Partners lineup.

Honeywell’s technology also garnered an ACES Award from Autonomous Vehicle Technology Magazine. The ACES Awards recognize top companies in vehicle autonomy, connectivity, electrification and mobility services.

The magazine cited Honeywell’s investment in UAM and its rapidly growing portfolio, from fly-by-wire computers to propulsion systems. Honeywell’s commitment to safety will be key to winning over the flying public, it noted.

“As much as everyone would love to have an affordable way to hop over city congestion, there’s still a big mental hurdle many must overcome before they truly embrace a future that includes autonomous urban air mobility,” the magazine said in its announcement. “However, many forward-thinkers in the industry and public are embracing the concept. One of the strongest industry supporters is Honeywell Aerospace.”
