Everything You Need to Know about Honeywell Forge Network Monitoring

Everything You Need to Know about Honeywell Forge Network Monitoring

It’s business as usual at 40,000 feet. Today’s best connected-aircraft solutions turn your business jet cabin into a fully functioning “office in the sky” that lets you do anything you can do on the ground, including accessing information you wouldn’t want to land in the wrong hands.

Cybersecurity is just as big a priority on the airplane as it is at company headquarters. Flight departments must adhere to company cybersecurity policies and deliver a safe, secure Wi-Fi experience for their passengers every flight. That’s no small task in light of today’s threats.

Directors of maintenance can breathe easy with Honeywell Forge on their side. Our unique software-centric cabin connectivity and flight services platform includes essential Honeywell Forge Network Monitoring capabilities as part of the basic package and offers customers the opportunity to upgrade their cybersecurity protection for a nominal monthly fee.

Honeywell Forge Network Monitoring uses software installed on the aircraft’s onboard router. The software includes an agent that examines data traffic and looks for malicious activity, unauthorized access attempts and other potential problems.

Questionable activity is reported to the network administrator through a special tile on the highly intuitive Honeywell Forge dashboard. In addition, the software can identify a connected device with malware and perform forensic analysis when suspicious activity is detected.

Basic network monitoring service is included with your Honeywell Forge subscription. Basic coverage includes firewall monitoring of the core network, ground-based monitoring and intrusion protection, automated monthly reports covering threats that were detected, and monitoring and tracking capabilities using the Honeywell Forge dashboard.

Operators can upgrade to an advanced service offering for a monthly fee of $175 per aircraft. The fee expands Honeywell Forge Network Monitoring to cover “on-wing” cybersecurity services, including intrusion detection and prevention services that detect and respond to network intrusion attempts.

Also included in the advanced plan are:

  • Aircraft network monitoring (in addition to core network monitoring);
  • Hardware intrusion detection
  • Network intrusion detection
  • Avionics health monitoring
  • Command and control capabilities (to set rules from the ground)
  • Network time domain (so sync events to specific aircraft time)

Other options are also available for an additional fee. These include network domain segregation, so you can set up different paths for avionics and passenger monitoring; security information and event management, delivered to managed service providers; and access to aerospace engineers and cyber experts as an additional resource.
