Honeywell and National Flight Services partner to provide Twin Commander operators best-in-class service for TPE331 engines worldwide

Honeywell and National Flight Services partner to provide Twin Commander operators best-in-class service for TPE331 engines worldwide

The Twin Commander is known for its segment-leading fuel efficiency, large cabin, and long-range capabilities. Since the plane’s original production back in the 1950s, there have been numerous model variants. Over time, the Twin Commander evolved with performance and capability enhancements, added features, design upgrades and new power engines.

Originally designed in 1959 and certified in 1965, the TPE331 was Honeywell`s first turboprop engine. Today, with more than 13,000 engines delivered and more than 122 million hours of flight time, the TPE331 is one of the most reliable and proven turboprop engines in the world.

In 1973, National Flight Services (NFS) became a Twin Commander Service Center making them the second oldest service center in existence. In 1983, they began working on the TPE331 engines and in 2005 they became the first authorized Honeywell Heavy Service Center. Up to that point, NFS established themselves as the world’s largest independent TPE331 overhaul and repair facility, working on engines in over 65 countries.

In August of 2018, NFS was purchased by Herb Harvey who had an extensive background in maintenance, specifically helicopters. Harvey’s leadership in just one year was the reason Honeywell awarded NFS “Honeywell Business Aviation Channel Partner of the Year for 2019 and Honeywell Service Center/MRO of the Year for 2019”. These are global-level awards that recognize partners for their extraordinary business achievements throughout 2019. These awards are not about biggest channel partners, but rather best channel partners – partners whose behaviors match those of Honeywell and who consistently go above and beyond to support customers across the aerospace industry and around the world.

In July of this year, National Flight Services was named by Honeywell the sole licensee worldwide to perform the Twin Commander -5 to -10T conversion. This is a perfect marriage as NFS is also a Twin Commander Service Center.

NFS has been in business for 58 years and offers several TPE331 maintenance and repair services, such as:

  • TP331 Overhaul or CAM w/ New Honeywell Parts and Honeywell-Authorized Components
  • Engine vibration analysis
  • Engine corrosion repair, treatment, and repainting (green)
  • Complete engine/control rigging

Trust the power of your TPE331 engine of your Twin Commander to NFS and be sure that your aircraft is up to speed.
