Finnair Automates Fuel Efficiency Data Management for Optimal Savings

Headquartered in Vantaa, Finnair is the flag carrier and largest airline in Finland. Founded in 1923, the airline is one of the oldest continuously operating airlines in the world and part of the Oneworld alliance. At the core of their strategy, Finnair has targeted to achieve carbon-neutral operations by the end of 2045. Already a Honeywell Forge Flight Efficiency user since 2015, the airline which operates 47 aircraft, including 17 A350s, needed to demonstrate how Honeywell Forge was connected to – and helping drive – their organization-wide sustainability initiatives. To do this, they needed a powerful integration to sync Honeywell Forge data to Power BI, their organization’s third-party business intelligence (BI) tool.

AUTOMATE DATA MANAGEMENT

Honeywell Forge Flight Efficiency is an Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) solution that enables airlines like Finnair to streamline their entire flight efficiency program. Its deep data analytics can help uncover efficiency opportunities while unlocking fuel savings and reducing carbon emissions.

The data that Finnair needed resides within their Honeywell Forge Flight Efficiency portal. However, they needed this data to sync with Power BI, where all the company’s data and reporting is consolidated and visualized. Transferring this data to Power BI would be a manual or static process without an API integration in place. They needed a dynamic integration that could be customized and updated as their programs grow.

The Honeywell API connection makes it possible to automate the entire process of exporting data from Honeywell Forge Flight Efficiency, without needing to manually extract. This gives users options to easily modify parameters, customize frequency and create new analyses for export. Also with this integration, data related to specific initiatives and KPIs (RETI, RETO, etc.) can be exported and shared to pilots for performance indicator feedback related to fuel savings.
