Diversity and Inclusion Create a Positive Work Environment for All

Diversity and Inclusion Create a Positive Work Environment for All

Diversity and inclusion leads to better ideas and helps foster a positive work environment that not only promotes equality, but delivers results. That’s why International Women’s Day, March 8, is the perfect time to recognize and remember the value than an inclusive mindset brings to Honeywell Aerospace.

International Women's Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The first observance of a Women's Day was more than 100 years ago in New York, but it has since been adopted by more than 100 countries across the world.

At Honeywell, we have made maintaining workforce diversity a key priority. Diversity is a foundation of our performance culture that promotes respect, understanding and appreciation of different perspectives, backgrounds and experiences.

Diversity increases our competitive advantage and inspires new ways of thinking. It sets us apart from our competition, helps us serve our diverse global customers and strengthens our brand. Diversity also engages our employees and improves our financial performance.

Now, more than ever, there's a strong call-to-action around the world to prioritize diversity and inclusion – in all industries and in all communities. As an organization, Honeywell Aerospace strives to offer all employees an opportunity to thrive and grow without barriers.

For more than 100 years, Honeywell Aerospace has been proud to foster women’s achievements in the aviation industry. This week the company and Aero Women’s Council (AWC) celebrate Women of Aviation Worldwide Week, International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month.

International Women’s Day marks a particularly significant “first” for the aerospace industry. On March 8, 1910, Raymonde de Larouche of France became the first woman to receive her pilot’s license. This week AWC members from around the globe are sharing their own milestones – big and small – in a new “Celebrating Our Firsts” video.

The video spotlights Honeywell employee achievements. For example, Anna Carpenter, a Honeywell Product Marketing Specialist at Honeywell Aerospace in Minnesota, was the first student selected from her high school to attend a military service academy. Alessandra Marcarian, Legal Counsel at Honeywell Aerospace in Mexico, recently closed her first global sales deal. The video also recognizes Mary Stubbs, Project Engineer at Honeywell Aerospace in Arizona, who was the first in her family to go away to college and become an engineer to make in a difference in the world through technology.

During the campaign, the inspirational “firsts” of these employees and more remind us all to look for ways to put our “Be Courageous” and “Think Big…Then Make It Happen” Honeywell Behaviors into action. Opening up to new possibilities is a great way to flourish and grow both personally and professionally – helping us create great customer experiences, grow our company and contribute to the safety and efficiency of flight.
