Built Tough, Built Smart, and now Built for China

Despite the pandemic, China’s oil and gas market is still expected to grow continuously and strongly. This, combined with China’s efforts to reduce its dependence on oil and gas imports as well as the large demand in petrochemical products worldwide, suggests continued growth of China’s oil and gas industry in the coming years.

One of the key qualities that define success in the rugged oil and gas business is reliability. It is an industry where risk is commonplace, and yet minimizing risk can make or break an opportunity. It’s a place where dependable, accurate data can make the difference between success and failure.

For more than 50 years, Honeywell has been supplying rugged sensing products to the worldwide oil and gas industry and these sensors continue to demonstrate their outstanding reliability and accuracy in some of the world’s toughest environments.

With more than three million shipped since 2001, Honeywell’s quartz-based accelerometers have earned a reputation for being the industry standard, not just in oil and gas, but across multiple industries. From aerospace, to oil and gas and marine operations, customers turn to Honeywell accelerometers because of their unparalleled accuracy, durability and quality.

Tough enough for many of the world’s harshest land or offshore environments, and engineered to deliver consistent accuracy, Honeywell’s industrial accelerometers are now available in China for the first time.

The QAT160, QAT185 and MiniQ measurement-while-drilling (MWD) sensors are non- ITAR controlled accelerometers utilizing Honeywell’s renowned Q-Flex design. Specifically customized for the demands of oil and gas drilling applications these MWD accelerometers can withstand the extreme temperatures and high shock vibrations of drilling while providing precision accuracy, stability and reliability.

As with the entire Q-Flex accelerometer family, the QAT and MiniQ accelerometers feature a patented Q-Flex etched-quartz-flexure seismic system. An amorphous quartz proof-mass structure provides excellent bias, scale factor, and axis alignment stability. The integral Q-Flex electronics develop an acceleration-proportional output current providing both static and dynamic acceleration measurements.

Often imitated, but never duplicated, the QAT and MiniQ look set to become the accelerometers of choice for the demanding oil and gas industry in China.
