Channel Partner AMAC Aerospace Leads the Way in JetWave Installations

AMAC Aerospace specializes in making great aircraft even better for some of the world’s most discerning customers – owners and operators of corporate, VIP and VVIP aircraft. So, it’s no surprise that the Honeywell premier channel partner is one of the world’s leading installers of the incomparable JetWave satellite communications system for long-range and larger business jets.

The company recently installed JetWave systems on two Boeing Business Jets and a Bombardier Global Express and, with three more aircraft booked, will hit the 30-installation milestone in early 2021, according to Waleed Muhiddin, Director Business Development & Marketing for AMAC Aerospace.

“AMAC Aerospace has been working with Honeywell since the very beginning,” he said. “We installed a Honeywell SwiftBroadband high-speed SATCOM during our first VIP aircraft completion in 2008 and the partnership between our two companies has grown stronger ever since. We are happy to work with Honeywell to provide our customers with all the benefits the JetWave SATCOM can offer.”

JetWave delivers an inflight Wi-Fi experience comparable to the one cabin passengers get on the ground. They can send and receive emails, upload and download large files, participate in teleconferences and Zoom calls, stream HD video, and watch live broadcasts like international news and sporting events.

The system lets passengers get connected, stay connected and remain productive and entertained, from the moment they board the airplane to the moment they get off at their final destination.  JetWave connects to Inmarsat’s Jet ConneX Ka-Band satellite network, which provides unequalled global coverage, except over the poles.

More than 2,500 operators have installed JetWave in less than five years, making this one of the most successful satellite communications products Honeywell has ever launched.

Today, AMAC Aerospace ranks among Honeywell’s top European channel partners [link to infographic]. The company is a market leader in aircraft completions and maintenance, as well as chartering and brokering. The headquarters are in Basel, Switzerland, four more locations are in Zurich, Switzerland, Auch in France as well as in Bodrum and Istanbul, Turkey. AMAC has developed and received approval on supplemental type certificates (STCs) for JetWave on leading large and long-range jets including the Airbus A320F, A330 and A340; Boeing 737, 747-8 and 777.

“One of the things that makes us unique is that we are a one-stop shop,” Muhiddin said. “We do almost 100% of the retrofit and maintenance work at our Basel center, where we employ a strong and experienced team of about 100 engineers and technicians.”

Geoffroy Vincent, Senior Manager of Avionics and Electrical Services for AMAC, oversees a team of eight people who specialize in installing and testing the JetWave system. “We work very closely with the Honeywell team to meet the needs of our mutual customers,” he said.

“A Honeywell Forge technical support engineer is always present during the acceptance flight in order to train users when we turn the aircraft over to the customer. AMAC and Honeywell both provide 24/7 technical support post-redelivery, which we know is a key element of customer satisfaction,” Vincent added.

“The installation and testing process take 4-6 weeks,” Vincent said. “It’s normally done during planned maintenance intervals to help customers reduce the length of time their aircraft is down, but we also have had customers come in for just the JetWave installation.”

AMAC Aerospace works with all kinds of customers, from successful businesspeople, to celebrities and even royalty, Muhiddin noted. “But when it comes to inflight connectivity, they all want the same thing,” he noted. “They want to have the same connected experience on their airplane that they enjoy in their homes and offices. By installing the JetWave system in their aircraft, we can give them the fast, reliable connected experience they want and need in this fast-paced world.”
