PTMD is now part of Honeywell Forge

The APU troubleshooting application included in the most advanced analytics platform for airlines

Over 100 airlines have been using Honeywell’s Predictive Trend Monitoring and Diagnostics application (PTMD) to reduce maintenance costs and improve the process of troubleshooting Honeywell auxiliary power units (APU).

In the last two years, Honeywell has integrated PTMD within our new analytics platform, Honeywell Forge, so airlines can now reap additional benefits from advanced analytics. The new algorithms cover more than a dozen ATA Chapters, including ATA Chapter 49 (APU).

Upgrade now to Honeywell Forge Connected Maintenance!

Free Trial is available to all Honeywell Forge customers. The data integration projects will be prioritized on a first-come, first-served basis. If your airline is not a Honeywell Forge customer, please engage with us to explore the options when it comes to ingesting ACMS and flight data.

What is Predictive Trend Monitoring and Diagnostics (PTMD)?

The application provides web-based fleet and maintenance management with a focus on Honeywell auxiliary power units (APU) availability. Monitoring APU conditions, it enables scheduled removals and thus minimizes time on the ground (AOG) as well as delays and cancelations (D&C). The system covers numerous APU types for both Airbus and Boeing aircrafts. The tool provides health information and assistance for fleet management. Honeywell has rich experience with over 60 customers and 4,000 APUs enrolled.

Why upgrade now?

PTMD is now part of Honeywell Forge Connected Maintenance. Apart from the new interface upgrade, airlines can be transferred to the Forge platform. This increases security and data storage capabilities improving user experience.

The main value for users comes from the powerful capabilities of Connected Maintenance. While PTDM has a strong focus on APU, Connected Maintenance provider powerful analytics for more than a dozen ATA chapters.

What is Connected Maintenance?

Connected Maintenance is part of Honeywell Forge analytics platform. It reduces aircraft downtime and lowers costs through:

Predictive maintenance: Advanced analytics provide alerts of impending failures and prescribed maintenance actions.

Cognitive diagnostics: Machine learning reduces troubleshooting and allows faster fixes.

Wireless data transfer: Wirelessly moves databases, software and flight data to and from the aircraft.

The module alerts your maintenance personnel of issues before they become and aircraft on ground (AOG), drastically decreasing costs and increasing aircraft availability. Our algorithms sift through nuisance fault messages coming off your aircraft and only alert you when there is a 98% probability that a failure is imminent. Not only can Honeywell alert you before a failure occurs, it is prescriptive about exactly what corrective actions are required to fix the imminent failure.

What are the benefits to airlines?

Upgrading to Connected Maintenance unlocks many benefits beyond APU diagnostics:

  • Alerts of APU issues before they lead to an AOG
  • Reduction in APU MELs and inop events
  • Proactive maintenance through actionable recommendations
  • Cost reduction
  • Increase of availability
  • Better plannability
  • Safer operations
  • Increased passengers’ comfort
