Wide Field of View (wFOV)

Overview
The Honeywell Wide Field of View (wFOV) Payload is a high-performance, ITAR-free optical system engineered for global Space Situational Awareness (SSA) missions. Its optical capabilities deliver greater than 3 degrees square instantaneous Field of View, with dynamic gimbaling for expanded coverage. Featuring a custom optical system, passive thermal design, and a radiation-tolerant detector and electronics, the system provides high sensitivity and reliable performance in challenging space environments.

Space-qualified control electronics with optional radiation hard capability, configurable for both standalone and hosted missions, the wFOV Telescope empowers operators to make informed decisions for safe launch, orbit selection, and on-orbit operations.

Key Features
  • Baffle dimensions adaptable for mission-specific requirements; gimballed version available
  • Sensitivity expected to exceed Sapphire instrument
  • Control electronics based on a space-qualified product with a custom daughter board; similar to nFOV (radiation-hard option available)
  • Large-format radiation-tolerant detector, radiation qualified by ESA
  • Fixed mount option for steered spacecraft missions or yoke-style gimbal for near - hemispherical Field of Regard (FOR)
  • Bespoke telescope with focus lenses and custom optical coatings
  • Passive a-thermal design for stable performance      across temperature variations
  • Wide FOV, near-telecentric Petzval-style lens system
  • Greater than 3° square Field of View, detector-limited resolution
  • Rapid assembly and procurement with low-cost architecture, ideal for commercial applications
Designed for military and civil space operators worldwide, the wFOV SSA Sensor provides a resliable, flexible, and high-precision solution for safe and effective space operations.
