Mark VII EGPWS

The Mark VII enhanced ground proximity warning system (EGPWS) is Class A terrain awareness and warning system (TAWS) ideal for fixed-wing aircraft with analog avionics or aircraft with military missions, providing protection against controlled flight into terrain (CFIT) and wind shear.

Mark VII enhanced ground proximity warning system (EGPWS) accepts a variety of aircraft parameters as inputs, applying proprietary alerting algorithms and providing the flight crew with aural alert messages, visual annunciations and a display of terrain. Mark VII interfaces with our optional bi-axial accelerometer if inertial reference system (IRS) or attitude heading reference systems (AHRS) inputs are not available.

Key system details are:

  • Reactive wind shear alerting provides visual and aural warnings of impending wind shear via algorithms that can detect increases or decreases in aircraft performance
  • Geometric altitude algorithm overcomes barometric altimetry limitations, like cold weather operations
  • Peaks display depicting the highest and lowest elevation terrain within the display range at any altitude
  • Runway field clearance floor (RFCF) protects against inadvertent landings below airport runway thresholds at airports that are much higher than surrounding terrain
  • Reduced nuisance alarms to increase pilot confidence
  • Radar autotilt allows the EGPWS to provide terrain elevation data to compatible radars for controlling the tilt of the radar antenna during its scan
  • SmartRunway and SmartLanding protect against runway incursions and excursions
  • Auto pop-up change from radar to terrain display in the event of a terrain alert, reducing pilot workload during
  • Altitude callouts of height above terrain or field elevation during final approach
  • Optional 8-channel or dual 12-channel internal global positioning system (GPS) card
