Honeywell to Appoint Advanced Electronics Company as Regional Partner for JetWave MCX Installation

Honeywell to Appoint Advanced Electronics Company as Regional Partner for JetWave MCX Installation

  • Advanced Electronics Company will support JetWave MCX satellite communication system upgrade installations for the Royal Saudi Air Force

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, Nov. 16, 2021 – Honeywell (NASDAQ: HON) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Advanced Electronics Company (AEC), a leader in the field of modern electronics, manufacturing, and repair and maintenance services, to provide Honeywell JetWave MCX satellite communication system upgrade programs for the Royal Saudi Air Force and other regional operators of military and VIP aircraft.

The MOU marks a significant milestone for Honeywell as AEC will be the first regional partner based in Saudi Arabia to support the installation of Honeywell’s newly launched JetWave MCX satellite communication system.

As part of the MOU, Honeywell will transfer technology and capabilities to AEC and will rely on engineering and labor support from AEC from its facility in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This capability strongly positions AEC and Honeywell in supporting Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to increase self-sustainment for Saudi Arabian military and civil agency operators.

“The MOU with AEC will offer significant benefits to operators and owners of Lockheed-Martin C-130 Hercules aircraft and other flying platforms through greatly enhanced satellite communications system upgrades,” said James Schaan, senior director, Defense and Space, EMEAI, Honeywell Aerospace. “This will be the first time we are able to offer this important upgrade installation and support services in the region, as opposed to sending these aircraft to other facilities across the world, which will save operators significant time and cost. It is also fully aligned with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.”

Honeywell’s JetWave MCX terminal is globally available and ideal for the heightened needs of the defense segment. Its network-agnostic, wideband architecture provides access to nearly any Ka-band network, including those used by military and government aircraft for surveillance, combat, humanitarian missions, and search and rescue operations.

JetWave MCX currently delivers critical technology to Sierra Nevada Corporation’s (SNC) advanced Airborne Mission Networking (AbMN) secure communications suite, designed to ensure critical mission data is always available to the warfighter — whether onboard or in a command center thousands of miles away. SNC has equipped Air Force Special Operations Command's MC-130J Commando II aircraft with Honeywell's JetWave MCX as part of the AbMN suite for ongoing system performance evaluation. The AbMN suite improves interoperability between special operations platforms as well as other U.S. Air Force, Army, Navy, Marine and coalition platforms.
