Honeywell Avionics Plan Helps Weststar Deliver Client Satisfaction, Increased Fleet Availability

Honeywell Avionics Plan Helps Weststar Deliver Client Satisfaction, Increased Fleet Availability

  • Five-year contract with Honeywell provides Weststar Aviation Services’ fleet of AW139 helicopters with global support, technical expertise and access to parts to keep cost low and fleet availability high

KUALA LUMPUR, July 17, 2018 - Honeywell (NYSE: HON) has signed a five-year contract with Weststar Aviation Services, the largest operator of AgustaWestland AW139 helicopters in Asia, to cover its fleet of 23 AW139s under the Honeywell Avionics Protection Plan. The plan will provide Weststar Aviation Services with fast, reliable and around-the-clock maintenance support, as well as access to key experts and products for Honeywell’s avionics, helping improve helicopter and fleet availability.

“Our business is structured around the ever-changing challenges we face within our industry. Success is based on an adaptive business model where we serve our clients’ day-to-day needs, and we are proud to continually deliver beyond their expectations,” said Russ Allen, Weststar Aviation Services chief technical officer. “Maintaining full fleet availability is one such key priority for Weststar Aviation Services. Since enrolling our first group of AW139 helicopters into the Honeywell Avionics Protection Plan, it has proven to be a quick and hassle-free solution for us to ensure that our helicopters are kept flight-ready, while allowing us to better manage maintenance costs. Looking ahead, we are pleased to extend our Honeywell Avionics Protection Plan contract across our entire fleet to optimize repair costs, while reducing maintenance downtime.”

In 2015, Weststar Aviation Services signed a three-year agreement with Honeywell to enroll 23 of its AW139 helicopters in the Honeywell Avionics Protection Plan. The program offers Weststar Aviation Services, and other commercial helicopter and business and general aviation operators, access to full maintenance coverage for Honeywell avionics at a predetermined, fixed annual price. This predictability minimizes unexpected repair costs, while enabling operators to better forecast the price of maintaining their fleet.

“According to Honeywell’s 20th Annual Turbine-Powered Civilian Helicopter Purchase Outlook, only around 18 percent of respondents in Asia Pacific are expected to replace or expand their fleet over the next five years,” said Tim Van Luven, vice president, Aftermarket Sales, Defense, APAC, Honeywell Aerospace. “With this in mind, the Honeywell Avionics Protection Plan allows helicopter operators to remain competitive by ensuring that their existing fleets are kept operationally ready at a moment’s notice, while keeping the long-term impact of unplanned maintenance low in terms of helicopter downtime and operator cost.”

The Honeywell Avionics Protection Plan currently covers aircraft for more than 3,000 operators worldwide, and offers quick upkeep and repair services from Honeywell’s technical product experts at more than 600 authorized sales and service centers worldwide. Additionally, the program provides operators with 24/7 aircraft on ground emergency services, fleet discounts and paid airfreight and no-charge loaner parts.
