Why Connectivity Matters in AAM
The addition of AAM vehicles, some of which will operate autonomously or semi-autonomously in low-altitude urban settings, into an already complex and evolving airspace requires new technology to support an already strained ecosystem. In order to operate seamlessly, they must rely on constant connectivity to maintain real-time communication with traffic management systems, ground control and other aircraft.

Honeywell’s connectivity solutions meet the unique needs of AAM platforms, where space, weight and performance are all equally paramount.
- Honeywell Anthem is the industry’s first cloud-native flight deck, designed with the AAM market in mind. Anthem enables real-time data exchange between the aircraft and ground teams, simplifying preflight setup, improving in-flight decision-making and enhancing pilot-to-ground coordination.
- VersaWave is a compact, lightweight satellite communications system built for smaller aircraft, including uncrewed and electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) vehicles. At just 1 kilogram, it delivers high-speed, beyond-visual-line-of-sight (BVLOS) connectivity in a size 90% smaller than Honeywell’s next smallest connectivity system, without sacrificing performance.
These solutions support safe and efficient operations that help lay the groundwork for fully connected autonomous air travel.
