Honeywell and Air Esurfing Bring the Latest High-Speed In-Flight Connectivity to China

  • Next-generation JetWave satellite communications hardware will help Chinese airlines enhance passengers’ experience and improve efficiency

BEIJING, March 19, 2019 - Honeywell (NYSE: HON) has appointed Air Esurfing Information Technology Co., Ltd. (ARE) as the exclusive distributor of Honeywell’s next-generation JetWave satellite communications hardware in China. The arrangement between the two companies will give Chinese airlines access to an all-in-one solution that enables high-speed in-flight Wi-Fi service and increases availability of fast, consistent, Ka-band connectivity for passengers flying on Chinese airlines. The network is dedicated to the China market and is designed to provide broadband-class data connectivity that will give passengers the same Wi-Fi experience at 40,000 feet that they have on the ground.

“Air Esurfing is the leading provider for in-flight entertainment and connectivity in the region. We are pleased to collaborate with Honeywell to provide our customers with proven high-speed, in-flight connectivity solutions, which are increasingly demanded by passengers today,” said Zhou Hong, CEO of ARE. “We recognize Honeywell’s commitment to creating advanced solutions that enable connected aircraft capabilities in China. This agreement will allow us to provide customized connected aircraft solutions with our dedication to support the growth of aviation in China.”

When paired with ARE’s strong regional presence and flexible business model, Honeywell’s integrated solution can help airlines’ revenue by allowing them to offer connectivity that improves passengers’ flight experience. The added connectivity also enables airlines to access several applications that enhance operational efficiency, such as Honeywell’s GoDirect services.

“China plays a significant role in our global growth, and we are committed to working with local partners to help advance the country’s aviation industry,” said Steven Lien, president, Asia Pacific, Honeywell Aerospace. “This exciting agreement with ARE will give Chinese airlines a competitive edge in a globalized market — providing them with hardware and connectivity that delivers in-flight Wi-Fi with in-office speed, as early as this year.”

Honeywell’s JetWave satellite communications terminals provide a seamless, in-flight Ka-band service that is available worldwide. The hardware and network are optimized to work during flight, providing outstanding connectivity and enhancing the passenger experience.
