Mark VI EGPWS

Overview
Designed with low cost of procurement and operation in mind, the Mark VI contains a regional terrain/airport/obstacle database and does not include wind shear detection, as it is not required for turboprop aircraft.

Benefiting from advancements pioneered in the Mark V enhanced ground proximity warning system EGPWS for airlines, the Mark VI EGPWS offers many features not found in competing TAWS systems.

Specifications

  • Key Benefits

    • Honeywell’s peaks display depicts the highest and lowest elevation terrain within the display range at any altitude, when most TAWS displays would be blank, which can be useful in the event of an unplanned descent
    • The Mark VI features altitude callouts of height above terrain or field elevation during final approach.
    • The Mark VI has auto pop-up to change from radar to terrain display in the event of a terrain alert, reducing pilot workload during this critical time.
    • The geometric altitude algorithm overcomes barometric altimetry limitations, like cold weather operations.
    • The runway field clearance floor (RFCF) feature provides protection against inadvertent landings below airport runway thresholds at airports that are much higher than surrounding terrain.
    • Using envelope modulation, Mark VI reduces the rate of nuisance alarms to increase pilot confidence.
