Condition Based Maintenance Systems

Condition Based Maintenance Systems

Improve operational availability and optimize maintenance resources with real-time performance data from Honeywell’s Condition-Based Maintenance System.

The term “condition-based maintenance” (CBM) refers to maintenance when need arises; that is, using real-time data to prioritize and optimize maintenance resources. Typically, this maintenance is performed after one or more indicators show that equipment is going to fail or that equipment performance is deteriorating.

Honeywell began offering CBM solutions and services in the mid-1990s and has led the industry with a continuing history of technology and software improvements. Our world class applications include real-time, onboard offerings for all classes of commercial aircraft, military ground and rotary wing vehicles, human space flight, commercial and automotive systems. We also service complex mechanical systems such as auxiliary power units and turbofan engines.

In the marine market, shipboard systems have become increasingly complex, requiring longer repair times and higher technician skill levels. Maintenance or repairs in port or at sea place a burden on resources, especially with unique problems that are hard to troubleshoot. Furthermore, operational and maintenance data are often underutilized and may not even be actionable.

Honeywell responded by developing CBM tools that provide the real-time performance diagnostic and prognostic information our customers need for optimum performance, thereby increasing both onboard safety and reliability while reducing costs.

Our toolkit includes a rapid low-cost software deployment process for trending, analytics and prognostics; intelligent data collection; and knowledge management. Early detection of faults combined with actionable intelligence reduces troubleshooting time and improves operational availability.
