MCS-7200 Multi-Channel Satellite Communications System

The multi-channel satellite communications 7200 is Honeywell’s most capable Inmarsat L-Band mobile avionics satellite communications terminal for broadband voice and data connectivity.

The MCS-7200 multi-channel satellite communications system is Honeywell’s most capable Inmarsat L-Band mobile avionics satellite communications terminal providing continuous worldwide air traffic control voice and data safety services for the cockpit and two channels of Swift Broadband (SBB) for cabin connectivity to and from the aircraft via satellite. The multi-channel satellite communications system augments and/or supersedes the present high frequency transceiver by supplying higher quality voice service, and by supplying data services at the higher bit rates required by datalink applications, such as automatic dependent surveillance (ADS-C), the international aircraft communications addressing and reporting system (ACARS), and CPDLC controller pilot data link communications (CPDLC) for FANS-1/A and CPDLC implementations.

The MCS-4200/7200 system provides seven baseband communication channels capable of supporting six simultaneous full-duplex circuit mode voice connections and one channel of packet- mode data. The multi-channel satellite communications system will accommodate all four airborne categories of communications:

  • Air traffic control
  • Aeronautical operational control
  • Aeronautical administrative communications
  • Aeronautical passenger communications

Key Benefits:

  • 6 classic voice and 1 data channels, plus
  • 4 channels of Swift 64, or
  • 2 Swift Broadband service channels
  • Up to 432 kbps per channel (for each SBB channel)
