C-130 LED Retractable Landing Light
Honeywell’s C-130 Retractable Landing Light (RLL) was designed for the U.S. government and foreign militaries operating the Lockheed C-130 turboprop military transport aircraft who need increased product performance, reliability, and reduced operating costs compared to legacy halogen lighting.
Honeywell’s C-130 LED Retractable Landing Light offers an outstanding 1000x increase in lamp life and a 66% reduction in power consumption, which also includes dual-mode infrared and visible lighting unlike similar offerings on the market.
For more than 85 years, Honeywell has led the aircraft lighting industry by providing solutions for nearly every aircraft to drive new performance and reliability standards across the industry.
How does the C-130 Retractable Landing Light work?
The pilot activates the cockpit switch to extend or retract the C-130 retractable landing light. The motor and gearbox work together to extend or retract the RLL on both sides of the aircraft. When the unit is extended, the light is turned on and the light head extended into the airstream providing light in front of the aircraft for landing or takeoff. When the unit is retracted, the light goes out and the unit is stowed.
