Pre-Cooler Control Valve

Pre-Cooler Control Valve

Honeywell’s new pre-cooler control valve (PCCV) provides 2.5 times more time on wing for B737NG and boasts improved reliability and a lower total cost of ownership.

The new PCCV eliminates the mechanical feedback system and moves vibration response away from engine frequency, critical to improved predicted reliability of 20,000 hours MTBF compared to the previous valve of about 8,000 hours.

This innovative valve was first installed in a B737NG in October 2016, and has been the production standard on new aircraft since. Nearly 3,000 PCCVs have been delivered to more than 40 different airlines around the world.

Honeywell has proactively removed three valves as part of its comprehensive monitoring program verify performance. Two were removed after 2,000 hours and the third after 4,000 hours. Examination of these valves showed them in excellent condition.

Another valve will be removed at 6,000 hours, about mid-2018.
