Airplane Information Management System (AIMS)

Airplane Information Management System (AIMS)

Honeywell’s airplane information management system (AIMS) is an integrated modular avionics system providing the Boeing 777 full cockpit integration – hosting technology including the primary flight-deck display system, the aircraft diagnostics and maintenance systems.

Ever wonder how Boeing 777s arrive on time? Honeywell’s airplane information management system (AIMS) is the “brain” of the Boeing 777. AIMS is an integrated modular avionics system providing the Boeing 777 full cockpit integration – hosting technology including the primary flight-deck display system, the aircraft diagnostics and maintenance systems.

As the “mission control” of Boeing’s 777, AIMS integrates and provides several functions:

  • Cockpit displays system
  • Flight management system
  • Thrust management system (Autothrottle)
  • Aircraft condition monitoring system
  • Data communication management (Datalink)
  • Flight deck communication
  • Central maintenance system
  • Flight data acquisition system

AIMS delivers unparalleled reliability by making sure that arrivals are on-time. On average, this integrated cockpit stays on-wing 15 years before needing to be removed for maintenance. This ensures arrivals are on-time for approximately 1.8 million passengers over 35 million nautical miles.

AIMS-1 entered service in 1995; AIMS-2 entered service in Q4 2003.
