Honeywell Supports Ameco to Expand In-House Auxiliary Power Unit Repair Capabilities

Zhuhai, CHINA, September 29, 2021 – Honeywell (NASDAQ: HON) and Aircraft Maintenance and Engineering Corporation (Ameco) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on the supply of materials and repair capability establishment of auxiliary power unit (APU) HGT1700 installed on Air China Limited A350 aircraft at the 13th China International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition. This cooperation will expand Ameco’s in-house APU repair product line, helping it better serve customers in the region with improved turnaround time.

In addition, Honeywell will authorize Ameco to provide APU maintenance, repair, and overhaul services for GTCP85-129 model APUs on Boeing 737 Classic fleets. Honeywell and Ameco have established a long-term cooperative relationship. Ameco is qualified to perform maintenance for 131-9A, 131-9B, 331-350 and 331-500 APUs, and Honeywell provides support including material supply, parts maintenance, and full unit replacement.

“Continuing to expand APU repair capability in China is critical to supporting the country’s growing fleet, Honeywell looks forward to joining hands with Ameco to provide faster MRO services to local airline customers,” said Steven Lien, president of Honeywell China and Aerospace Asia Pacific. “Honeywell has more than 100 years of experience in the aviation industry, and we are committed to providing customers with high-quality products and services to make every flight safer and more efficient.”

“It is a great pleasure collaborating with Honeywell in extending our in-house repair capability. The progress allows Ameco to provide more comprehensive repairing services to a variety of aircraft types. The local in-house capability will also greatly enhance AMECO’s strength in the Asia-Pacific region”, said Ni Jiliang, chief engineer of Air China and chairman of Ameco. “Ameco keeps its practice in innovation and development, and is willing to ensure that our clients’ fleets operate safely with best efficiency.”

An APU is a critical piece of aircraft equipment that provides electrical power and air conditioning while the plane is on the ground. It helps ensure passenger comfort and supplies the air source before a pilot is ready to start the main engines. The Honeywell APU is known for its reliability and lower maintenance costs, which saves significant fuel, ensures the efficient operation of the fleet, improves the profitability of airlines, and enhances the comfort and safety of flight. Honeywell's first APU was put into service in 1950. Up to now, Honeywell has produced more than 100,000 APUs. At present, more than 36,000 APUs in service have been installed separately on more than 150 types of fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft in feeder lines, official and commercial fields.
