Honeywell and Sichuan Airlines Group Collaborate to Promote Education in China's Liangshan Area

• New learning centers come equipped with the latest technology to help students

SHANGHAI, Nov. 12, 2018 - Volunteers from Honeywell (NYSE: HON) Aerospace and Sichuan Airlines Group have created two new high-tech learning centers as part of Honeywell’s Hometown Solutions Program. Located in the hinterlands of Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture in Sichuan Province, the two multi-purpose learning centers feature 50 computers, projectors and other digital teaching equipment. The beneficiaries of this new technology will be 4,600 students from the Wayan Village Central School and Yuexi County Wenxing Elementary School.

As a part of the project, volunteers installed and revamped the schools’ electric circuit and network facilities, providing the students in the Greater Liangshan area with the tools needed to advance their education and connect them with students from around the world.

“Since 2015 Sichuan Airlines Group has been meticulously executing plans for poverty-alleviation and education-assistance in Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture in line with its master plan and the circumstances in Yuexi County,” said Li Haiying, president of Sichuan Airlines Group. “We are pleased to see an increasing number of enterprises like Honeywell who are willing to fulfill their corporate social responsibility by participating in poverty-alleviation work in Liangshan Prefecture.”

For a decade, Honeywell has been fulfilling its corporate social responsibility in China through its Hometown Solutions Program, and this latest collaboration with Sichuan Airlines comes in response to a rallying call for poverty-alleviation efforts from the Chinese government. Both companies elected to improve education in one of China’s poorest regions by providing modern teaching equipment. The multi-purpose learning center will provide local students with a modern learning environment that can help them acquire skills for operating computers and accessing the Internet.

Since its incorporation more than 32 years ago, Sichuan Airlines Group has grown to become one of the leading airlines in China. The business has been meticulously undertaking poverty-alleviation work in fulfillment of its responsibility as a state-owned enterprise, and with Honeywell, has agreed to explore new options and platforms for social benefit.

Honeywell’s Hometown Solution program in China is focused on bringing educational resources to rural areas and encouraging children to pursue a lifelong path of education and learning. During the past 10 years, employees of Honeywell Aerospace have traveled to places such as Mianyang (Sichuan), Lhasa (Tibet), Shuangjiang (Yunnan) and Erdos (Inner Mongolia), donating nearly 31,000 books and over 150 computers to numerous schools. Over 23,700 local students have benefited from Honeywell’s contributions.
