Honeywell Expands Aerospace Facility in South Carolina

Honeywell Expands Aerospace Facility in South Carolina

  • Investments in Honeywell’s Greer facility will create dozens of jobs over the next five years and add up to 5,000 square feet of manufacturing space.

GREER, S.C., July 11, 2017 - Honeywell (NYSE: HON) is increasing the capabilities of its aerospace facility in Greer, South Carolina. The facility is a major center for the company’s machining, special processes, and maintenance, repair and overhaul services for both commercial and military aircraft. The expansion is associated with Honeywell’s airfoil machining and special processes and is expected to create approximately 30 skilled high-tech jobs in South Carolina.

“The aerospace industry is one of the most competitive industries in the world, and South Carolina in particular hosts nearly 200 aerospace-related companies. Our facility expansion means that we not only increase our capabilities, but Honeywell continues to contribute to South Carolina’s burgeoning aerospace economy,” said Jason Lewandowski, senior director for the Greer Site, Honeywell Aerospace. “This investment positions our manufacturing network for future growth to help us maintain leadership and drive innovation. We will benefit greatly from South Carolina’s wealth of engineering and manufacturing talent to strengthen our technical capabilities and provide production support from Greer.”

Honeywell will invest more than $10 million to develop, maintain and expand its industry-leading aerospace site in Greer. The South Carolina Department of Commerce has also committed additional tax incentives over the next 20 years to support the continued progress of the facility. The facility’s growth is part of a sustained investment in the local Greer community with advanced aerospace facilities and the evolution of a specialized and experienced workforce in South Carolina.

The first phase of expansion at Honeywell’s Greer facility will begin in the third quarter of 2017 with an estimated completion date in 2019.

About the Honeywell Greer Facility

Honeywell first established manufacturing operations at its Greer facility in 1982. Over its 35 years as part of the South Carolina community, the site has grown into a dedicated hub for aerospace manufacturing where its engineers and technicians provide commercial, military and government customers with original equipment manufacturer production, maintenance, repair and overhaul support for Honeywell’s industry-leading family of engines. Continued investment in the growth of the Greer facility has allowed Honeywell to expand on applications, including the use of advanced special coating processes.

The aerospace business is one of several Honeywell divisions that maintain a footprint within the state. Honeywell Safety and Productivity Solutions, which provides products, software and connected solutions that improve productivity, workplace safety and asset performance for global customers, is based in Fort Mill, South Carolina. Honeywell’s various divisions – Aerospace, Corporate, Home and Building Technologies, Performance Materials and Technologies, Safety and Productivity Solutions –combined employ more than 1,000 employees in South Carolina.
