Operators Can Receive an Unrestricted Navigation Database

This article was published last year as an important reminder but is being re-run for Gulfstream operators with ASC 912 or later. Operators with 912 can receive unrestricted navigation and electronic charts databases. To receive an unrestricted INDS database, operators must notify Honeywell Aviation Services of the upgraded ASC.

Prior to ASC 912 (currently 912 C), operators were unable to load the entire navigation database and electronic charts database due to memory limitations in the Advanced Graphics Module (AGM). As the databases became larger, the number of filtered airports began to impact more operators. This impact resulted in the need to remove airports with runway lengths of 5,000 feet or less from the navigation database and 7,000 feet or less from the electronic charts database. ASC 912 reallocated memory to enable full navigation database and chart loading.

ASC 912 B&C also provides the following benefits:

  • Resolves the latency timer functionality that prevented the aircraft from meeting North Atlantic Performance-Based Communication and Surveillance data link requirements.
  • Raises the software level of the AGMs to Mod B (required for interfacing with FMS).
  • Adds several parameters to the Digital Flight Data Recorder (DFDR).
  • Adds the active/not active state of the CHECK PFD 1-2 red Crew Alerting System (CAS) message and the data required to determine magnetic or true heading selection.
  • Inhibits the NIC 3 and/or NIC 5 LAN NETWORK FAIL Central Maintenance Computer (CMC) message(s) with a new Loadable Diagnostics Information (LDI) file. These messages will no longer be reported when both are present.
  • Fixes a display issue resulting in aircraft position not being accurate on charts, maps and SVS.
