Customer Services Shines at Piedmont Aviation

Customer Services Shines at Piedmont Aviation

Customer service is a hallmark of Piedmont Aviation Component Services, a Honeywell channel partner specializing in the maintenance, repair and overhaul of auxiliary power units and their components.

“We pride ourselves on our ability to develop partnerships with our customers,” said Piedmont Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Chap Berrier. “We have a reputation for going above and beyond to respond to customers’ needs with reliable products and services, excellent quality and competitive pricing. Customers know they can count on us to do whatever is necessary to keep their aircraft operational.”

For example, a Piedmont customer recently experienced an aircraft on the ground (AOG) situation in Colorado, half a continent away from Piedmont’s facility in Greensboro, N.C. That didn’t stop Piedmont from chartering a business jet to take an experienced technician and a critical APU component to the grounded aircraft. Problem solved. Customer happy.

These kind of incidences have become routine for Piedmont employees who have been focused on creating memorable customer experiences since the 1930s, as a part of Piedmont Airlines, which is now a part of American Airlines.

“We get urgent AOG calls from customers all the time,” said Berrier. “It’s not at all unusual for one of our techs to get on the phone with a customer who’s having problems and talk him through the troubleshooting process. Often, we can solve the problem in just an hour or two, which customers really appreciate.”

Today Piedmont is a subsidiary of TAT Technologies, which gives the company a global footprint, the better to serve operators who use Honeywell APUs. The company focuses on Honeywell 36, 85 and 331 series APUs, which fly on a wide range of military and civil aircraft including the C-130, Black Hawk helicopter, Airbus A300-310, and Boeing 757/767 and 737 Classic.

Piedmont services an average of 15-20 Honeywell APUs each month at its Greensboro facility, which employs about 140 people.

“We’ve been working on Honeywell APUs for more than 30 years and have been an authorized dealer for more than 20 years,” Berrier said. “I don’t think anyone knows more about these units and the operators who fly them than we do. We have a strong partnership with Honeywell that benefits our mutual APU customers.”
