Honeywell Expands IntuVue Radar Technology to Enable Ground-Based Weather Detection at Airports
- Honeywell’s advanced 3D radar enhances early weather awareness and safety for flight planning in complex operating environments.
SINGAPORE – Feb. 3, 2026 – Honeywell (NASDAQ: HON) today announced the expansion of its IntuVue™ RDR-7000 3D weather radar technology into a ground-based weather detection application. The expansion extends Honeywell’s proven airborne radar capabilities to support early weather awareness and enhanced safety for general aviation (GA) airport operations.
The ground-based radar application leverages Honeywell’s IntuVue™ volumetric 3D scanning technology, adapted to provide real-time, high-resolution weather monitoring along intended flight paths. Designed to support pre-departure planning and low-altitude operations, the solution helps airports and operators improve situational awareness during inclement weather, contributing to safer and more informed flight decisions.
“This expansion of our IntuVue™ technology demonstrates how Honeywell continues to extend its radar leadership across both airborne and ground-based applications,” said Amit Kaul, leader, Business & General Aviation, Asia Pacific, Honeywell Aerospace. “By making this proven radar technology available for airport operations, we are helping customers address real operational challenges with greater confidence and situational awareness.”
This new application of already fielded technology reflects Honeywell’s continued focus on applying proven aerospace technologies beyond the aircraft to address evolving safety needs across the aviation ecosystem.
The RDR7000 ground radar solution provides volumetric 3D scanning for a more complete and accurate view of weather conditions compared with conventional systems. The system is designed to detect hazardous weather phenomena such as wind shear and thunderstorms in low-altitude environments, supporting safer operations at GA airports.
