Honeywell’s High-Speed Satcom System Selected For Use In Advanced U.S. Army Aircraft

  • L3Harris will use Honeywell’s JetWave™ X to improve connectivity and resilience in the U.S. Army’s Airborne Reconnaissance and Electronic Warfare System

PHOENIX, May 15, 2025 -- Honeywell (NASDAQ: HON) today announced its JetWave™ X satellite communication system has been selected by L3Harris Technologies (L3Harris) to upgrade the U.S. Army’s Airborne Reconnaissance and Electronic Warfare System (ARES) to provide soldiers with improved connectivity around the globe. With JetWave X, the U.S. Army will be able to transmit mission-critical information at higher data rates than currently available while ensuring a constant connection through JetWave X’s resilient, multi-network architecture.

ARES is a U.S. Army demonstrator aircraft owned and operated by L3Harris. The Bombardier Global 6000/6500-class business jet features technologies that represent the future of airborne intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance.

Honeywell has supported ARES for several years in collaboration with L3Harris, demonstrating both companies’ commitment to delivering advanced, reliable technology in support of U.S. Army missions. It also demonstrates Honeywell’s alignment of its portfolio to three compelling megatrends, including the future of aviation.

“Today’s pilots need access to real-time data with uninterrupted connectivity to make mission-critical decisions,” said Matt Milas, president, defense and space, Honeywell Aerospace Technologies. “Honeywell is proud to provide ARES with JetWave X, the only multi-network satellite communications system for government aviation that seamlessly connects to the Inmarsat Global Xpress, ViaSat-3 and other Ka-band constellations.”

JetWave X builds upon the success of Honeywell’s JetWaveTM SATCOM system by improving the ease of installation and providing greater service network flexibility, with the capability to connect to any Viasat Ka-band satellite. The system’s open architecture also ensures compatibility with future Ka-band networks, making it network agnostic.
