Honeywell And China Eastern Airlines Announced APU Cooperation At CIIE

Shanghai, Nov. 6, 2023 -- Honeywell (NASDAQ: HON) announced at the 6th China International Import Expo (CIIE) that China Eastern Airlines has selected Honeywell’s 131-9A Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) for the airline’s 100 new Airbus A320 and A321neo aircraft.

An auxiliary power unit is a critical piece of aircraft equipment that provides electrical power and air conditioning while the plane is on the ground. This ensures passenger comfort and supplies the air source when a pilot is ready to start the main engines. The Honeywell 131-9A APU selected by China Eastern Airlines is known for its high performance and reliability, and lower maintenance costs that result in significant fuel savings. The two sides are currently discussing relevant agreement to be signed.

Honeywell also signed a maintenance license agreement of HGT750[C] APU with Eastern Airlines Technics, a subsidiary of China Eastern Airlines. The HGT750 APU boasts excellent reliability and fuel efficiency. According to the agreement, China Eastern Airlines will obtain the maintenance authorization for the HGT750[C] APU and provide maintenance services for China Eastern Airlines and other domestic airlines.

"We are delighted to further cooperate with our long-term partner China Eastern Airlines. Honeywell has provided APU and maintenance service for more than 600 aircraft under China Eastern Airlines, and fully supports it to achieve lower carbon emissions and more efficient fleet operation," said Eric Ai, Vice President, Airlines, Asia Pacific, Honeywell Aerospace. "Honeywell is committed to helping customers enhance aircraft power, improve fuel efficiency and reduce carbon emissions. We look forward to continuing our cooperation with China Eastern Airlines to help create a safe, efficient and sustainable future for aviation.”

"China Eastern Airlines vigorously accelerates sustainable development, continuously improves the fuel efficiency and reduce emission,” said Shaokun Song, CEO of Eastern Airlines Technics. "We are pleased to establish a new cooperation with Honeywell, our long-term partner, through the CIIE platform, to help achieve more efficient, safe and lower-carbon operation of the fleet through Honeywell's advanced technology, services and solutions, and promote the upgrading and sustainable development of aviation industry."
