Honeywell Extends Partnership With Pt Dirgantara Indonesia To Supply Tpe331 Engines For Philippine Air Force

  • The MOU was signed at LIMA 2023 in Langkawi, Malaysia

MALAYSIA, 24 MAY 2023 – Honeywell (NASDAQ: HON) today announced a new one-year agreement with PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) to supply TPE331 turboprop engines for use on PTDI’s NC212i aircraft, which are exported to the Philippine Air Force.

Earlier in April, the Philippine Air force acquired six additional NC212i aircraft, which will be equipped with underwing auxiliary tanks for extended range. Honeywell’s TPE331 turboprop engines enable faster take-offs, climbs and more efficient cruise speeds, without increasing fuel burn, while reducing operating costs.

This latest collaboration reinforces the relationship between both companies and is a milestone in Honeywell’s mission to provide operationally ready capabilities to defence departments.

“Asia Pacific is a high-growth region for Honeywell, and we are committed to supporting defence departments like the Philippine Air Force as they continue to scale their capabilities, aircraft fleet and modernisation programmes,” said Sathesh Ramiah, Vice President, Defense & Space, Asia Pacific, Honeywell Aerospace. “We are excited about this extended partnership with PTDI, and are confident Honeywell’s TPE 331 engine will deliver maximum performance, efficiency and reliability that enhances the capabilities of the NC212i.”

"This Philippine Air Force NC212i program is in addition to two NC212i aircrafts delivered in 2014 with Honeywell TPE331 engines installed. PT DI is keen to continue to support Philippine Air Force’s defen” said PTDI executive."

The TPE331 was Honeywell’s first turboprop engine. Designed more than 50 years ago, the original commercial version was certified by the Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) in 1965. Since then, Honeywell has made numerous improvements to the power section and gearbox, and the engine continues to prove itself in demanding conditions around the world.

The series now includes 18 engine models and 106 configurations developed for applications ranging from military to agricultural, regional airlines to general aviation. Today, with more than 13,000 engines delivered and more than 122 million hours of flight time, the TPE331 is one of the most reliable and proven turboprop engines, known for shorter take-offs, improved fuel efficiency and lower operating costs.
