Honeywell Aerospace Strengthen Cooperation with Local Partners at 4th CIIE

Honeywell Aerospace Strengthen Cooperation with Local Partners at 4th CIIE

Honeywell Aerospace announced two signings at the 4th China International Import Expo (CIIE) to further enhance collaboration with local partners in China. Leveraging its profound experience and comprehensive range of products and solutions, Honeywell will support them to build capacity and improve competitiveness in the international markets.

Honeywell Aerospace has been long cooperating with China aviation industry. This is the fourth consecutive year when Honeywell has participated in the CIIE. Honeywell Aerospace has brought its most cutting-edge technology and strengthened collaboration with local partners at this largest import expo globally. As a participant to the development of China’s aviation industry, Honeywell will continue to give full support to this most dynamic market towards a digital, smart and sustainable era.

Honeywell Aerospace products and services are found on virtually every aircraft in service today, from airliners to business jets to general aviation aircraft and helicopters. Honeywell Aerospace provides a comprehensive product and service portfolio, including aircraft engines, cockpit and cabin electronics, wireless connectivity systems, mechanical components, urban air mobility applications and more. Its hardware and software solutions create more fuel-efficient aircraft, more direct and on-time flights and safer skies and airports.

1. Letter of Intent with Shanghai Aircraft Manufacturing. Co., Ltd.

Honeywell signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Shanghai Aircraft Manufacturing Co., Ltd.(SAMC), a fully-owned subsidiary company of Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, Ltd. (COMAC), on the supply of products and solutions to support aircraft C919 and ARJ21 production line in 2022.

Honeywell and COMAC have been working together on the C919 program since COMAC was founded in 2008. Honeywell had worked with COMAC’s predecessor on the ARJ21 regional jet since the early 2000s. Honeywell was selected to provide auxiliary power systems, flight control systems, air data systems, inertial reference systems, and wheels and brakes systems to support the C919 aircraft, and to provide Aspire 400 cockpit satcom systems and flight control systems to support the ARJ21 aircraft.

Honeywell’s four packages applied on C919 aircraft have been proven to operate stably and reliably via multiple test flights within past years. Honeywell’s Aspire 400 satellite communications system has recently received a technical standard order (TSO-C159) certification from Transport Canada Civil Aviation, which means that ARJ21 aircraft equipped with this system is expected to become the world's first aircraft to be deployed with Aspire 400, to enable more reliable and essential communication for pilots and crew, improve fleet management, maintenance, and flight operations.

Safety and efficiency have always been the key factors for aviation operators. Higher efficiency allows for lower cost and better profitability and will significantly boost their market competitiveness in the post-pandemic era. Honeywell’s comprehensive products and solutions will help them greatly improve efficiency and productivity, making the flight safer and more efficient.

2. MOU with Tianjin Jingchengweiye Mechanical Manufacturing Co., Ltd

Honeywell signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Tianjin Jingchengweiye Mechanical Manufacturing Co., Ltd, pursuant to which both parties intend to cooperate in Honeywell's Advanced Electroplating (HAEP) industrialization to provide a high-performance, efficient and environmental-compliant surface treatment solution, primarily serving in the oil and gas industry, and other related industries. It will help end customers to avoid failure and downtime during oil and gas drilling and increase drilling parts life cycle by outstanding coating performance in wear and corrosion resistance, thus improving their efficiency and lowering the total cost.

Honeywell has nearly a quarter-century of coating experience on components used in aerospace and other applications. The proven performance within the most difficult environments in land, air, and space show the effectiveness of our proprietary electroplating process. Now, we’re making our unique electroplating expertise available for non-aerospace use in oil & gas (O&G), mining, industrial, and other applications where high levels of wear and corrosion resistance are required.

Tianjin Jingchengweiye Mechanical Manufacturing Co. is an enterprise in surface treatment and new materials with advanced capabilities in RDE, Manufacturing and sales based in Tianjin, China. Autumn Inc., based in Texas, the U.S., is their wholly owned subsidiary, specializing in design and service of industrial mandrels and innovative oil and gas downhole tools offerings, with sales and service network around the world.

The two companies will have strategic partnership to launch HAEP which intends to bring new values to the industry. HAEP is an advanced wear and corrosion resistance coating that can be applied via an electroplating process to protect critical parts from wear and corrosion under the most demanding conditions. The new coating performs as well – or even better – than the most commonly-used alternatives and is an environmentally-compliant solution. Honeywell's Advanced Electroplating offers distinct advantages over alternatives such as tungsten carbide type coating applied via high velocity oxygen fuel (HVOF-WC) process and chrome (Cr) coating applied via an electroplating process. Not only does the coating provide excellent corrosion and wear resistance, but it also is environmentally compliant at a reasonable price point.
