Ethiopian Airlines Enhances Its Fleet

Ethiopian Airlines Enhances its Fleet With Support From Honeywell International Inc

  • Africa’s fastest-growing airline signs multiyear deals, continuing a long-term relationship covering technology maintenance and support

ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia, July 3, 2018 - Honeywell International Inc. (NYSE: HON) announced today the selection of its maintenance support for cockpit, auxiliary power units and mechanical systems by Ethiopian Airlines. The agreement will help ensure the safety and availability of the airline’s growing fleet, which is the largest on the African continent with 100 aircraft flying to 110 international destinations, as well as domestic locations.

“Enhancing our commercial fleet with Honeywell’s proven cockpit technologies, Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) and mechanical systems helps us stay at the forefront in aerospace technology and innovation,” said Tewolde GebreMariam, group CEO, Ethiopian Airlines. “Complementing this with Honeywell’s repair and overhaul support means we can reduce aircraft downtime while keeping an eye on costs. This helps ensure our international, regional and domestic passengers reach their destinations quickly and comfortably.”

The agreements cover Ethiopian Airlines Boeing B737 and B777 aircraft, which Honeywell will support for spares, repair, and overhaul. The plan provides peace of mind by allowing air and ground crew to better schedule their maintenance budgets through flexible payment options and associated cost savings.

“We have worked with Ethiopian Airlines for several decades, so we know how important it is to the company to maintain a reliable, safe service, especially as it expands and upgrades its fleet,” said Rudolph Louw, aerospace leader, Africa, Honeywell International Inc. “Unscheduled maintenance and repairs can be overwhelming, but with our proven technology and support we are helping to limit those concerns, allowing Ethiopian Airlines to focus on offering its passengers comfortable flights with minimal interruption.”
