Engine Operators Eligible for MSP Engine Rebates

Honeywell is on track to provide operators more than $500,000 in rebates this year, based on how they operate their propulsion engines under the company’s signature Maintenance Service Program (MSP). The MSP usage-based feature was introduced earlier this year to reward operators who put less wear and tear on their Honeywell engines, according to Bill Traxler, Propulsion Line Director for Honeywell.
“We’re use advanced data analytics to analyze engine use along three operating dimensions,” he said. “Our algorithms look at time at high throttle settings, the length of segments flown and the environment the aircraft is stored and operated in to determine how hard the engine is working. Then we assign a score to each dimension. The higher your score, the larger your rebate.”
It’s only fair that operators who consistently fly longer routes, are easier on the throttle and use the aircraft in preferred environments, pay less for their maintenance, since it costs Honeywell less to maintain these engines over time, Traxler said. Operators can keep an eye on their engine usage scores and how they compare against other operators flying the same engine model on an easy-to-use online dashboard, available on the Honeywell Forge customer portal.
Under the usage-based plan, operators can earn as much as 10 percent of their monthly invoice as a Honeywell credit. Rebates for a given month are calculated and posted on the Honeywell Forge portal in the middle of the next month. By the end of 2019, over 400 customers are expected to be enrolled in the usage-based program. New and renewing MSP customers are automatically enrolled in the program. Customers need to provide the engine data by the 10th of the following month to qualify for the month’s discount.
Currently customers need to complete monthly manual engine data downloads under their engine health monitoring service and Honeywell uses this data to complete the usage-based analytics. “But late next year, Honeywell is leveraging its connected airplane expertise to introduce a new, selectable service that will automatically download engine data after each flight via Wi-Fi, making it easier for operators to qualify for their rebates,” Traxler said.
MSP is part of Honeywell’s Forge maintenance service portfolio, which is designed to help operators manage their maintenance budgets.
