Channel Partner Feature Series: Brunswick Aviation Services

  • In 2018, Honeywell is recognizing its channel partners across the globe to showcase the great work and unwavering dedication they provide to Honeywell customers.

The team at Brunswick Aviation Services in Maine celebrated the company’s first anniversary in March by installing a Honeywell JetWave satellite communications system in a customer’s business jet. It was the second JetWave installation for Brunswick, a Honeywell Connectivity Center of Excellence that is making a name for itself in the rapidly growing connected aircraft space.

“The standard MRO (maintenance, repair and overhaul) model isn’t going to work for satcom systems in the era of the connected aircraft,” said Brunswick President Per Person. “Operators want this equipment installed quickly and efficiently. They shouldn’t have to wait for a major maintenance event and they shouldn’t have to take their aircraft offline for a month to get a system installed.”

Brunswick’s latest JetWave installation took about two weeks, but Person is convinced he can shorten the process to 10 days next time. And he’s not stopping there.

“We’re targeting a five-day Monday-Friday installation cycle,” he said. “We’ve purchased a JetWave test set so we can do all the configurations and we’ve kitted a lot of the assembly to reduce cycle time. We’re looking to decouple the satcom installation process from the regular maintenance cycle to meet the growing demand among business jet operators.”

That’s just what Honeywell and Premier Dealers like Brunswick can provide with JetWave, which exclusively powers Inmarsat’s global, high-speed Jet ConneX service. With JetWave and Jet ConneX, business jet passengers can access in-flight Wi-Fi to stay in touch with the office and entertain themselves 45,000 feet.

Brunswick is gearing up for what Person believes is the bright future of connected aircraft. He has a dozen JetWave systems on order to respond quickly to customer requests and envisions a point in the not-too-distant future when his team at Brunswick Executive Airport in Maine is handling 50-60 installations a year for customers from every corner of the globe.

While Brunswick Aviation Services is a new enterprise, Person has spent more than 40 years in the avionics business and has extensive experience with Honeywell. “Honeywell has huge technical and product assets,” he said. “We are working together to create a win-win situation for business aircraft operators and meet their needs for the latest and greatest satcom technology – without having to wait to get the connectivity capabilities that their passengers have come to expect.”

“It’s all very exciting,” he continued. “JetWave connectivity completely changes the environment of the aircraft … it puts the world at your fingertips.”
