FAA Honors Voss For 50 Years Of Aviation Safety
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has recognized George Voss with its prestigious “Charles Taylor Master Mechanic Award,” an honor reserved for those who have achieved 50 years of safe aircraft maintenance operations. Voss is Manager of Quality at Honeywell Aerospace’s Flight Test Operations in Phoenix, Ariz.
Voss also will be added to the FAA’s Master Mechanic Recipient Roll of Honor. He received the award from an FAA representative Feb. 21.
The award is named for Taylor, the mechanic credited with designing and building the engine for the first successful flight of aviation pioneers Wilbur and Orville Wright.
Voss’ expertise has been advanced throughout his career as he’s maintained C-119 and C-130 military aircraft as well as a variety of commercial aircraft from manufacturers including Airbus, Boeing, McDonnell Douglas, Lockheed,Dassault, Convair, deHavilland, BAE and North American.
At Honeywell Aerospace since February 2003, Voss called his work “a joy to behold. I’ve met a lot of interesting people and a lot of really true professionals. And the group here is outstanding. We do things that nobody else does.”
