Going Live: JetWave X Links with Viasat Global Network

The future of in-flight connectivity is clearer than ever as Honeywell and Viasat begin over-the-air testing of JetWave X, the world’s first multinetwork satellite communications system.

The two companies made the milestone first connection on July 1 between a JetWave X system installed and Viasat labs in Carlsbad, California, and the F1 Viasat-3 satellite in geostationary orbit over the equator. Tests will continue for several months as Honeywell prepares to secure a supplemental type certificate (STC) for JetWave X in the fourth quarter of 2025.

“The first over-the-air connection was cause for celebration by everyone on the Honeywell-Viasat team.”

“This is a major milestone for our companies and the entire industry as we prepare to introduce a game-changing system that will set new performance standards with triple-digit speed and will deliver a consistent global experience for business jet passengers and flight crews.”

- Jason Wissink, Honeywell President of Services and Connectivity.

The Carlsbad installation includes JetWave X hardware with a dual-modem configuration, modem manager and an antenna mounted on the lab’s roof, according to Tamara Roberts, Director of Product Management for Honeywell.

“The first live test was a complete success and JetWave X performed up to expectations,”

“This pushes us forward as we continue to prepare for the STC, which will enable us to start production at our Ottawa facility in Canada, where we already manufacture the highly successful JetWave system."

- Tamara Roberts, Director of Product Management for Honeywell.

Honeywell introduced the original JetWave in 2017 to much acclaim from business aviation operators. More than 2,000 aircraft are flying today with JetWave systems onboard. A global network of satellite communications specialists helps customers resolve connectivity issues and discover effective solutions.

JetWave X has already been selected by Bombardier and Dassault for new aircraft installations, with other customers expected to be announced soon.
