Honeywell and AerFin – Loading Up the E-Jet

Honeywell and AerFin – Loading Up the E-Jet

  • Honeywell has appointed AerFin as a preferred distribution partner of hardware upgrades for the Embraer E-170 / E-190 Regional Jet.

Worldwide operators of the Embraer E-Jet family looking to upgrade the performance of their E-170 / E-190 fleet can now order directly from the UK based aftermarket solutions provider.

The $3 million agreement includes core hardware components such as the Pentium M Modular Avionics Unit, and Honeywell’s next generation – LCD based Multifunctional Control Display Units (MCDU) and Display Units.

The Pentium M hardware is a pre-requisite for the Epic Load 27 software retrofit which replaces the legacy FMS with a Next Generation Flight Management System (NGFMS). The NGFMS delivers significant operational and performance benefits including improved fuel efficiency, lower direct operating costs, reduced pilot workload and increased safety.

The NGFMS for E-Jet aircraft sees a continuation of the product improvement seen through the systems integration on larger commercial aviation platforms including the B747-400 / B747-8 – and the baseline upgrade offers airlines advanced functionality and operational efficiency capabilities.

By upgrading with the Gold Option Package, operators of the Embraer E-170 / E-190 E-Jets will benefit from a 2% reduction in fuel burn per cycle through Cost Indexing / ECON speeds and off-idle descent. Precision navigation capabilities such as RNP AR approaches will further improve operational efficiencies through reduced track miles flown and fewer missed approaches.

Additional advanced services available with the NGFMS Load 27 Upgrade include features such as LPV approaches at non-ILS equipped airports, Honeywell’s next generation Runway Awareness and Advisory System (RAAS), Synthetic Vision with Integrated Navigation and Electronic Charts. This functionality brings new capabilities to the aircraft that enhance its ability to operate in the most challenging environments.

As a global aftermarket solution provider with locations in Europe, Asia and the Americas, AerFin offers airlines a broad range of aircraft service capabilities ranging from whole aircraft trading and leasing through to rotable component ad-hoc trading and support through a range of bespoke programmes across a broad range of platforms.

Commenting on the agreement AerFin CEO Bob James said, “AerFin is dedicated to providing cost-effective solutions that deliver optimum levels of customer satisfaction. This partnership with Honeywell is further evidence of our commitment to E-Jet fleet operators worldwide. By facilitating their ability to upgrade the capabilities of their aircraft, we can help them realize the operational performance and safety benefits of Honeywell’s next generation cockpit systems, providing enhanced levels of component reliability and increased time on-wing”.
