Falcon 8X Soars to New Heights with Honeywell’s Primus Epic for Dassault EASy IV Avionics

Dassault Falcon 8X Soars to New Heights with Honeywell’s EASy IV Avionics

Honeywell Aerospace Technologies recently installed the Primus Epic for Dassault EASy IV integrated flight deck on our Dassault Falcon 8X aircraft.

This fourth-generation EASy (Enhanced Avionics System) flight deck comes equipped with state-of-the-art advancements that streamline operations, enhance situational awareness and improve operational safety.

Jim Currier, Aerospace Technologies (AT) CEO, flew on the aircraft and said, "The EASy IV upgrade is more than just an enhancement; it's a complete transformation of the flight experience. It's about flying smarter, with confidence and safety at the forefront. We’re thrilled to have this featured on our 8X aircraft."

Jim added he’s received similar reviews from a number of Falcon 8X Pilots.

Chief Pilot Jonathan Maas said, "I was impressed by the user-friendly advanced situational awareness tools. The enhanced fidelity of the screens, combined with features like the 3D AMM and iNAV, make navigating complex airports at night or in bad weather significantly easier. EASy IV truly makes flying safer and more intuitive."

What’s New In Easy IV – Streamlining Aircraft Operations with Enhanced Efficiency

The Falcon’s EASy IV cockpit, powered by Honeywell’s Epic with SmartView SVS and 2D and 3D AMM, simplifies aircraft operations with its intuitive design and capabilities.

Enhanced graphical flight planning and improved datalink capabilities make managing flights more efficient. The advanced system also introduces 2D and 3D airport maps to business jets, significantly easing ground and air navigation. The seamless integration of these features ensures pilots have all the information they need at their fingertips, reducing workload and enhancing efficiency.

As Maas observed, "The flight deck does a great job of simplifying the workflow, especially during critical phases like taxiing and landing.”

Elevating Operational Safety to New Heights

Operational safety gets a significant boost with EASy IV. The system's runway overrun awareness and alerting system (ROAAS) provides a new safety net, alerting pilots to potential overruns with ample time to react. Additionally, the improved take-off and landing data (TOLD) performance systems deliver more precise and realistic landing distances. These enhancements, combined with the advanced RNP AR approach capability, ensure pilots can approach runways affected by terrain or high-density traffic with greater confidence. Maas further emphasized, "The TCAS is adjustable, allowing us to see more data and airplanes in the area, significantly enhancing safety."

Advanced Maps and Real-Time Data Enhance Situational Awareness

EASy IV takes situational awareness to the next level. The system features 2D and 3D moving maps that display runways, taxiways and airport features in sharp detail. ADS-B In provides real-time information on airborne and ground traffic, including aircraft call signs, heading, speed vector and wake turbulence. This data, along with the vertical situation display (VSD) and Sirius XM weather information, gives pilots a comprehensive view of their environment, aiding in safer decision-making during flights, especially in congested airspace and low-visibility conditions. Maas added, "The 2D AMM replaces the busywork during landing, automatically showing the taxi diagram, which is not something that would happen in an EASy III."

Intuitive Upgrade, Redefining Modern Avionics

Making the transition from EASy III to EASy IV requires minimal training, which is a testament to the system's intuitive design. As Maas noted, “It's very user-friendly when you get on the flight deck."

The Falcon 8X, equipped with EASy IV, combines elegance and functionality in an upgrade that underscores our commitment to advancing aviation and enhancing the flight experience for pilots and passengers.

With EASy IV, Honeywell has delivered an avionics system that not only elevates the standards of flight operations but also transforms the pilot experience, making it a crucial addition to the Falcon 8X.
