Connectivity Redefined: The Honeywell JetWave X Experience

Connectivity Redefined: The Honeywell JetWave X Experience

Honeywell is shaking up the in-flight Wi-Fi experience again with JetWave X, business aviation’s first and only multi-network satellite communications system. .

The JetWave X team recently started qualification testing, and they’re looking forward to showcasing JetWave X capabilities to aircraft manufacturers – including Bombardier and Dassault Aviation – and business jet operators in the near future.

What sets JetWave X apart is its ability to seamlessly connect to multiple satellite networks, switching back and forth effortlessly to provide passengers with an uninterrupted, high-speed internet experience. This level of connectivity puts JetWave X ahead of all other providers, ensuring business aviation operators and passengers get the reliability they demand.

Two Orbits Are Better Than One

One of the standout features of JetWave X is its ability to connect to satellites in GEO (geostationary equatorial orbit) and MEO (medium Earth orbit), both on the high-performance Ka-band. JetWave X automatically shifts between these constellations to ensure access to the best-available network while optimizing airtime service plans.

With its multi-orbit capabilities, JetWave X provides pole-to-pole coverage, delivering reliable, high-speed performance with minimal disruptions, no matter where you fly. Frustrating “dead zones” will soon be a thing of the past.

JetWave X is also Ka network-agnostic, meaning it will work with Global Xpress, Viasat 3 and other Ka-band networks. Advanced data control routing software ensures a seamless handoff from one satellite to another.

Speed Meets Consistency

With download speeds of up to 200 Mbps in busy flight corridors, JetWave X is up to 10 times faster than many previous generation systems.

But speed isn’t everything. Business jet operators and passengers say the ideal inflight experience is one where connectivity is not only fast but also consistently reliable. In fact, according to the 2023 Inmarsat-Corporate Jet Investor ranking of in-flight Wi-Fi priorities, 80% of business aviation professionals chose “it always works” as their top or second priority, compared to 64% who chose “superfast connections.”

What passengers really want is an internet experience that mirrors their office or living room at 40,000 feet. With JetWave X, they can stream video, send and receive large files, and even watch live sports without interruption.

Innovation Runs in the JetWave Family

Since it was first introduced in 2017, JetWave has set the industry standard for speed, reliability and consistent inflight connectivity.

In 2021, Honeywell introduced JetWave MCX to meet the unique Satcom needs of military and government operators, enabling access to both government and civilian networks for secure, mission-critical applications. And today, more than 2,000 aircraft are using JetWave.

We’re excited to offer our current JetWave customers the opportunity to upgrade to JetWave X starting later this year. We think this upgrade will be particularly appealing to operators who demand faster speeds and unparalleled connectivity, with minimal impact to their aircraft.
