All I Want for Christmas is an Engine for My Aircraft

All I Want for Christmas is an Engine for My Aircraft

Most flight operations don’t have the option of turning to Santa when they need equipment for their aircraft. While Santa might be an experienced pilot and the owner of an impressive machine shop, he hasn’t bought a lot of aircraft parts, unless you count food for his reindeer and the occasional replacement runner for his sleigh.

If you’re a sourcing specialist, you’ll probably do your holiday shopping the old-fashioned way. You make a list, check it a ‘couple of times’ and reach out to the OEMs and other suppliers of new, surplus and reconditioned parts. And, while you may use the internet to help track down parts, almost all (97 percent) of transactions are still handled using telephone, email and by fax. How very nostalgic!

E-commerce has made shopping easier for the millions of consumers who will spend close to $125 billion online this holiday season – whether it be for the latest gadget or kids’ toy. But there has never been an efficient, easy-to-use online marketplace for airplane parts. Until now.

GoDirect Trade is the industry’s first true online shopping experience where you can buy and sell used aircraft parts, including used serviceable material and excess inventory from a number of sellers, including Honeywell’s Aerospace Trading (HAT) business.

Opened just in time for operators to address your year-end parts and materials needs, GoDirect Trade offers all the convenience of the big consumer shopping sites. You can browse listings or search for what you need with a name or part number and easily compare prices. You can place your purchases in an online shopping cart and pay for them with a credit card or purchase order. There’s even an “Ask the Seller” feature so you connect with the seller for more information or to discuss terms.

Every listing includes a picture, asking price and information about the unit’s history, including the FAA 8130-3 airworthiness tag. And, GoDirect Trade is the only site to use blockchain technology to trace the pedigree of every part.

Right now, GoDirect Trade features more than 4,000 different parts from our Honeywell Aerospace Trading, ranging from complete TFE731 engines, to auxiliary power units, to enhanced ground proximity warning systems and electronic displays. Other storefronts will open in January and listings will expand to include products from Dassault Falcon Jet, Delta Material Services, Standard Aero, H&S Aviation, Turbo Resources and WG Henschen.

So if your wish list includes a better way to shop for aircraft parts and materials, you’ve got it with GoDirect Trade. And if there’s a turbofan engine on someone’s list, be forewarned that you’re going to need a lot of wrapping paper.
