Helicopter Connectivity for All Missions with HUMS and Sky Connect Tracker Systems

Rotor blades have hung up effective satellite communications for helicopters, but companies like Honeywell are making advances on beaming data through the whirling metal.

Whether it’s your mission to fight fires, protect citizens, transport patients or move people from Point A to Point B, Honeywell connected helicopter solutions can help you get the job done – safer, faster and cheaper.

Our Health and Usage Monitoring System (HUMS) technology pays big benefits for small and large operators, including the Alabama National Guard. An eight-year study found HUMS saved the Guard $2.1 million in parts cost and operation support and reduced unscheduled maintenance by 75 percent, improving readiness and asset availability. Today, Diagnostic Solutions International (DSI), is the Honeywell Authorized Distributor for all HUMS systems. So, customers can now look to DSI for a single point of entry for all their HUMS needs.

Abu Dhabi Aviation (ADA) turned to Honeywell and HUMS to improve maintenance on its 34-helicopter fleet, used primarily to support offshore oil and gas production. ADA describes HUMS as “like having a doctor onboard” to monitor the health and fitness of onboard rotating and vibrating systems, improving safety and aircraft availability, while reducing maintenance costs and unscheduled downtime.

Air Methods, the largest emergency air medical service provider in the U.S., upgraded its helicopter fleet with the Honeywell Sky Connect Tracker 3 satellite communications and tracking system. The system lets Air Methods use voice and text to stay in touch with pilots, track the location of helicopters anywhere in the world and collect critical flight monitoring information, which is an FAA mandate for emergency medical service providers. Today, MASCO Service Corporation is the Honeywell Authorized Distributor for Sky Connect Tracker products. So, customers can reach out to MASCO directly for all their Sky Connect needs.

Recently, DSI and MASCO participated in a Rotor & Wing webinar where different customer case studies were shared along with key features of HUMS and Sky Connect Tracker 3A. To watch the webinar head over to Rotor & Wing or click here.

Through partnerships with leading companies like DSI and MASCO, Honeywell has made it easy and effective for operators to meet their connectivity needs for any mission.
