Honeywell to Provide Enhanced Flight Management Services for Sichuan Airlines

  • Honeywell’s Flight Management System Datalink service helps optimize flight planning while saving time and cost

SHANGHAI, June, 15, 2020 – Honeywell (NYSE: HON) has signed an agreement with Sichuan Airlines to provide its Flight Management System Datalink service to meet the needs of Sichuan Airlines’ fleet. The new access to the FMS Winds service allows airline dispatchers to upload and monitor their flight plans and weather/temperature data directly via Honeywell’s datalink network. This capability makes it easier for airlines to enhance real-time flight operation, improve fuel efficiency and optimize their flight plans and trajectory.

“Airlines today are facing challenge due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the industry, “said Li Wei, Operation Vice President, Sichuan Airlines. “However, this partnership with Honeywell will help us maintain our best-in-class service to our customers through increased efficiencies in our operations.”

Honeywell’s FMS datalink service provides seamless, worldwide, two-way communication between an aircraft and the ground. The service helps pilots stay connected to air traffic control wherever they are, while also making life easier for operators and maintenance teams. More than that, the latest technologies adopted by this service could allow airlines to enjoy optimized flight planning so that the shortest routes can be flown to save time, fuel and ensure a safe landing at the airport.

“This is a significant milestone strengthening our partnerships in China, and it is exciting to see the FMS Datalink service for Sichuan Airlines set up and being tested.” said Steven Lien, President, APAC, Honeywell Aerospace. “We still see huge potential in the domestic market. As always, Honeywell is committed to supporting the region’s needs by providing solutions to customers that create value and increase efficiencies, as well as providing a local support team.
