Honeywell and Jordanian Aeronautical Systems Boost Engine Support Through Local Service Center

Honeywell and Jordanian Aeronautical Systems Boost Engine Support Through Local Service Center

ROLLE, Switzerland, August 21, 2017 – Honeywell (NYSE: HON) has signed a license agreement with Jordanian Aeronautical Systems Co. to provide support services for Honeywell’s T53 series of engines. The turboshaft engine is best known for powering some of the world’s most iconic helicopters for over 50 years, including the Bell UH-1H Huey, Huey II and AH-1H Cobra, with a total of more than 62 million flight hours.

As the first dedicated T53 engine service center in the Middle East and Africa region, Jordanian Aeronautical Systems Co. (JAC) will provide both military and commercial operators with localized repair and maintenance options. The regional service center will provide a reliable, cost-effective and local option for operators looking for repair, maintenance and overhaul support in the Middle East and Africa region.

“As the Middle East and Africa region continues to grow, we recognize the need to offer a more accessible, regional repair and maintenance option,” said Mosab Alkubaisy, director Middle East and Africa, Honeywell Aerospace. “With the new Jordanian Aeronautical Systems service center, operators can have their T-53 engines repaired locally, which means quicker turnaround and less downtime so they can stay flying for longer.”

“In addition to the technical and practical benefits, we are investing in the local workforce and resources, which means reduced operational costs such as shipping,” said Ziad Abuain, CEO, Jordanian Aeronautical Systems Co. “By reducing operational costs, we can pass this benefit onto JAC customers, ensuring they get a better deal and can actively manage the repairs and maintenance for their T53 engine.”

The JAC service center is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Royal Jordanian Air Force (RJAF) and this agreement builds on Honeywell’s long-term relationship to provide support on multiple RJAF aircraft.
